Diamond crystals have been formed by hot-filament chemical vapor deposition (hot-filament CVD) using the organic compound CH_3OH without H_2 carrier gas. The crystals are grown on the Si substrate at 760 Torr. Carbon nano fibers have been synthesized on a Ni metal plate using combustion flame such as alcohol lamp flame in the atmosphere. The obtained samples (diamond and carbon fiber) are characterized by scanning electron microscope (SEM), transmission electron microscope (TEM) and Raman spectroscopy.
