The influence of complex ions (NH^+_4, CO^<2->_3, NO^-_3, SO^<2->_4: and PO^<3->_4) in fluoride glasses on absorption loss is investigated. To remove these tons, reactive atmosphere processing with NF_3, has been applied. NH^+_4, CO^<2->_3, NO^-_3, and SO^<2->_4 are effectively eliminated by the NF_3 processing.
