By using a "build-in casting" method, homogeneous waveguide structure with a smooth core-claddeing interface was formed in fluoride glass fiber. A minimum loss of 37 dB/km at 2.6 μm band was obtained by establishing a 5.4 cladding core diameter ratio and 0.33% relative refractive index difference between core and cladding.
