The Crystallization Kinetics of Amorphous PdAgSi Alloys

Two sorts of amorphous alloys, Pd_<78>Ag_4Si_<18> and Pb_<72>Ag_<10>Si_<18>, were prepared by the rollerquenching method and were studied by measuring the exotherms with a DSC.The results showed that the crystallization process of these alloys could be explained by the equation of the autocatalyzed reaction.From the isothermal annealing, the activation energies for crystallization were determined to be 4.3 eV in Pd_<78>Ag_4Si_<18>and 5.0eV in Pd_<72>Ag_<10>Si_<18>. The existence of an incubation time was observed in the crystallization process of Pd_<72>Ag_<10>Si_<18>
