The optical transmission loss spectrum of an arsenic sulphide glass fiber was measured in a wavelength region between 1.0 abd 5.5 μm. Minimum losses of 92 dB/km at 1.85 μm, 78 dB/km at 2.4 μm and 164 dB/km at 5.3 μm were obtained in the fiber with a small tail on the band edge absorption. The fiber was drawn from a high purity glass rod.
