Effect of 120 MeV ^<16>O Ion Irradiation at Low Temperatures on Superconducting Properties of YBa_2Cu_3O_<7-x> and La_<1.8>Sr<0.2>CuO_4 : Electrical Properties of Condensed Matter

YBa_2Cu_3O_<7-x> and La_<1.8>Sr_<0.2>CuO_4 are irradiated at low temperatures with 120 MeV ^<16>O ions up to fluences of 1.6×10^<15> /cm^2 and 2.4×10^<15> /cm^2, respectively. With increasing O ion fluence, the transition temperature decreases and the electrical resistance above T_c increases monotonically. The annealing experiments performed after irradiation show that in YBa_2Cu_3O_<7-x> the recovery of the electrical resistance occurs above 〜 160 K, and this recovery leads to the recovery of T_c. In La_<1.8>Sr_<0.2>CuO_4, no recovery of electrical resistance is found up to 300 K.
