Voltage was generated in the metal-insulator-metal (MIM) structures of Al/polyimide Langmuir-Blodgett film/Au which were fabricated in 1986. Temperature fall caused by the voltage generation was ascertained by noncontact temperature measurement using a vacuum avalanche photodiode. The voltage has been generated for 6 months and is still being generated now. From the experimental results, it was found that the present MIM structures are new microscopic elements that transduce heat energy to electrical energy.
