Collisional energy exchange between electrons having a plateau-shaped distribution with loss cone and a Maxwellian plasma component in the plug cell of a tandem mirror is studied. The expression for the energy exchange rate is obtained analytically and is compared with that for two Maxwellian plasma components. The energy exchange rate is also calculated for different shapes of the loss cone boundary.
