Potential enhancement dtae to RF-induced parallel veloc:ity space diffusion in atandem mirror is studied by using a one-dimensional model based on the linearizedFokker-Plank equation with a quasi-linear RF diffusion term. A modified Boltzmannrelation between the plasma density and the confining potential is obtained as a func-lion of the RF diffusion coefficient under the assttmption of small deviation from theMaxwellian for distribution function. The relation shows that the confining potentialincreases with the increase of the RF diffusion coefficient. The confining potential issaturated for the flat distribution function in the limit of strong RF diffusion.[tandem mirror, RF-induced transport, potential formation, Fokker-Planck l] equation, velocity space diffusion, modified Boltzmann relationl
