The photoconductivity spectrum of trigonal selenium has been measured at presstures up to about 1 GPa. With increasing pressure, the photocurrent sharp peak near 1.8 eV shifts to the lower energy region at a rate of (1.6±0.1)×10^<-1>eV/GPa, suggesting that the band gap decreases at this rate with increasing pressure.
