Theoretical discussions are made of the mutual coherence function of light affected by a periodically amplitude-modulated ultrasonic wave in a low ultrasonic frequency region. The partial coherence condition of illumination can be controlled electronically with the presence of the ultrasonic wave. The feasibility of monotonously decreasing soherence-reduction is described in association with the ultrasonic power of modulation.
