An annular aperture around the center of one mirror has been tried for coupling out the laser energy. It is found that the lowest order transverse mode TEM_<00> remains least in the power losses among the resonant modes, even though the former mode has fairly close coupling. The variation in the power output due to the destructive interference of the oddsymmetric modes of oscillation by a knife edge moving across the output beam, gives a confirmation of the infrared radiations, enhanced by other stimulated emission lines, to be lasing ones. Absolute output power, the difference between the laser output power of He-Ne and that of pure Ne, and the gain constant are examined in respect of all 24 lines of Ne from 3.4 to 23μ wavelength.
