Phosphofructokinase and pyruvate kinase activities in castor bean endosperm increased during germination. Subcellular localization of pyruvate kinase and phosphofructokinase in germinating endosperm tissues was studied by differential and sucrose density gradient centrifugation techniques. Eighty five percent or more of the pyruvate kinase and phosphofructokinase activities were located in cytosol. The remaining activities were mainly detected in proplastids.
