Ascorbate photo-oxidation by a photochemically active chromoprotein isolated from the blue-green alga Anabaena cylindrica was studied under monochromatic illumination. Results indicate that the chromoprotein consists of at least two pigments, both of which act as light-energy receptors for ascorbate photo-oxidation.
