One strain each of Arxiozyma telluris, Saccharomyces cerevisiae, and S. kluyveri showed lethal activity in cyclophosphamide (CY)-treated mice. Accumulation of these yeast cells in the kidneys and elevation of the levels of cytokines, tumor necrosis factor-α, and interleukin-1 α in the sera were recognized in the CY-treated infected-debilitated mice.
