There are two problems in parasitization of a nocturnal host by a diurnal parasitoid wasp : (1) How the parasitoid female finds out and attacks the host and (2) how the parasitoid larvae egress from it and spin their cocoons. Apanteles kariyai, a parasitoid of the common armyworm, solves these problems ; (1) by using cues such as leaves damaged by a host and odours of faeces and host itself in finding host in the daytime and (2) by making the host reappear from its hiding place and climb up a higher place where it stays in quiescent state just before the egression of them.
