Two species of the Cephaline Gregarines from Chilopoda are reported in this paper. The one, Trichorhynchus pulcher SCHNEIDER, is found in the intestine of Thereuonema tubcrculata WOOD, and of Thereuopoda clunifera WOOD. The other, Nina japonica sp. nov. is in the intestine of Scolopendra subspinipes mutilans L. KOCH. Trichorhynchus pulcher SCHNEIDER is an active, polymorphic gregarine and shows extensive alterations in shape as CRAWLEY mentioned. The sporonts are solitary, elongate cylindrical. The ratio length protomerite: totat length is 1 : 3.2-4.3, the ratio width protomerite: width deutomerite is 1 : 1.2-1.5. The protomerite is conical, rounded at summit. there is a constriction at septum. The deutomerite is widest at 1/3 anterior portion from the septum and tapering to the well rounded posterior extremity. Nucleus spherical with one karyosome. Cysts are spherical, 450-500μ in diameter. Spores are cylindrical. The characteristic features of Nina japonica sp. nov. are described above. Among the member of the genus Nina, this species has some resemblance to N. gracilis GREBNECKI and N. glardi (LEGER) SOKOLOW, especially in the size of the body. But this animal differs from them in the ratio length protomerite: total length, the ratio protomerite: width deutomerite, in the shape of the deutomerite and of the nucleus. This species differs also from N. indicia MERTON in the ratio and size of the sporont and in the characters of the nucheus. Then I want to describe this animalcule under the name Nina japonica as a new species.
