The reproductive activity in relation to the life span of the pond snail, Bakerlymnaea viridis, cultivated in the laboratory under the natural light and temperature conditions was studied. The life span of the snails as expressed by 50% survival was about 6.5 months, the maximal life span being about 19 months. Snails with shells measuring more than 4mm in length were capable of producing fertilized eggs. The developmental rate of the eggs was an exponential function of temperature.
