Drosophila sexvittata, D. trivittata, and D. alboralis pass through two or three generations per year in central Hokkaido, and pass the winter in reproductive diapause. Hibernating individuals of D. alboralis were found in cliff-shelters along streams and in holes of trees, and those of D. sexvittata and D. trivittata on tree trunks. Most of the hibernating females of D. alboralis were inseminated.
