In Vitro Study of the Adsorbability of Pemphigus Antibody by a Newly Developed Immunoadsorbent, CF-X

The adsorbability of pemphigus vulgaris (PV) antibodies by the immunoadsorbent CF-X was examined in vitro. Plasma simples from three patients registering PV antibody titers at 1:1,280, 1:640, and 1:320, respectively, were circulated through a CF-X column (8 mm diameter, 60 mm high, 2 ml bed volume). The titers of the PV antibody in the plasma of all three patients showed a two-column decrase when the volume ratio of immunoadsorbent to plasma was 1:3. The titers of the PV antibody in the plasma of the same three patients showed a one-column decrease when the volume ratio of immunoadsorbent to plasma was 1:6. It was also shown that the rates of decrease in normal protein fractions, with thc exception of IgG, during CF-X column adsorption were minimal. Our results suggest that immunoadsorption therapy using a CF-X column might be useful for the treatment of PV.
