The effects of chemical leaching, natural oxidation, direct microbial action and indirect microbial action are considered in a kinetic model for the leaching of synthetic nickel sulphide (NiS). The model is similar to one recently reported for the microbial leaching of chalcopyrite (CuFeS_2). Using analog simulation good agreement was found between the simulation results and experimental data for 220 hr leaching of NiS.
