The anti-bradykinin actions of homochlorcyclizine, diphenhydramine, and pyridinol carbamate were investrgated on the isolated jugular veins of rabbits. Two ring strips of jugular vein were connected as in a chain. This ring-chain was used for the experiment. Bradykinin induced contraction of the ring-chain. The higher the concentration of bradykinin, the stronger was the contraction. The contraction by bradykinin was decreased after the pretreatment of three kinds of drugs. From the dose-response curves, it was concluded that three drugs had the anti-bradykinin action on the ring chain and this action was reversible. The action of homochlorcyclizine was most remarkable. There was no signigicant difference between the action of diphenhydramine and that of pyridinol carbamate. Anti-bradykinin actions of these drugs seemed to be non-specific.
