This paper concerns a nonlinear solution of the von Karman equations for axially symmetric deflections of thin annular plates under uniform lateral pressure with outer edge clamped and inner edge free. Interpolated iterative methods of finite difference approximations of non-uniform meshes are presented for the plate equations and the boundary conditions. Numerical solutions, carried out on the NEAC 2230 at Tohoku University, yield a complete description of stresses and deflections for three cases of a dimensionless inner radius of a plate for an unlimited range of load parameters.
