卵巣腫瘍との鑑別を要したS字状結腸由来のgastrointestinal stromal tumorの1例

The case of an 82-year-old Japanese woman with gastrointestinal stromal tumor, uncommitted type of sigmoid colon is described. Laparotomy disclosed a large mass extending from the pelvis to the level of the umbilicus arising from the sigmoid colon; consequently, sigmoidectomy was performed. The tumor was composed histologically of interlacing fascicles of spindle or polygonal cells together with partial necrosis. Mitotic counts were 5 to 10 per ten high-power field. A small number of tumor cells were immunohistochemically stained with S-100 protein, although they were not positive for a-smooth muscle actin. CD117-positive cells were also distributed throughout the tumor. Ultrastructurally, there were no bundles of filaments in the cytoplasm. The patient died of recurrent disease 6 months postoperatively.
