Localization of hCG and its subunits in chorionic tissue of early gestation were immunohistochemically observed. Purified hCG and its subunits were used as antigens for immunization according to small doses method. All stainings were carried out by indirect method using rabbit antisera and FITC-conjugated anti rabbit IgG of goat. The preparations were examined in a fluorescent microscope. As a result, localization of hCG was observed in syncytiotrophoblast as well as reported previously, and immunofluorescence reacted with anti-hCG-β was almost similar to that of hCG showing more distinct pattern. On the other hand, the fluorescence reacted with anti-hCG-α was found both in syncytio-and cyto-trophoblast simultaneously. The fluorescence of the latter one was recognized as due to free α-subunit.
