The Effect of the Electron Correlation on the Quantities Relating to the Orbital Interaction in Transition Metals

The effect of the electron correlation on 1/T^<(orb)>_1 fir transition metals in the paramagnetic state is investigated by use of the many bands Hamiltonian. The retarded Green function is solved in the RPA approximation. It is found that only the inter-band transition is modified by the electron correlation, and if, in the tightly binding approximation, the overlap of the atomic functions on different atomic sites and the band mixing are neglected, there is only the contribution from the inter-band transition which is enhanced by the electron correlation. The effect of the electron correlation on (d^2σ/dEdΩ)_<orb> is also investigated by the same treatment.
