XVe propose an atona cltrster taaodel of F-type icosahedral qtrasicrystals based on the structureof an a-(AIPdKInSi) pharse, whicla is a p/q : 171 ctrbic approxi?nant of icosahedral qtrasicrystals.In the tauodel, large dodecal'tedral and SlIl2L1l icosahedral atoum cltrsters, which are located at the(172, 1 /2, 1/2) and (0, O, 0) positions in the ct-(AlPdNInSi) strttcture, respectively, are placed attxvelvefold sites classified itato two groups in the three-diutaensional Penrose lattice. A diffractionpattern of' this model reprodtrces well the character'istic feaxttrres of an electron diffraction patternof the F-type Al -Pd -IVIn icosahedral qtrasicrystal.
