Hidden Ordering and Heavy Mass in URu_2Si_2 and Its Alloys

Various untrsttal properties in the anornalotrs strperconductor URtr3Si3 in the normal state havebeen sttrdied based on the standpoint of pair Jahn-Teller distortion, The pair distortion occtrrswell above the ordering ternperature and thtrs the transition for the pair ordering is weak. Dueto an inherent characteristic of pair ordering, the ordering is not perfect but includes unpairedU atoms. This is the origin of the weak antiferrornagnetic ordering with the rnoment of 0.010,04p.g/U and a heavy fermionlike behavior. No Kondo effect is observed. To confirm theabove model, dilute ?rlIoy systems have also been studied and it is shown that all of thern canbe explained by a common model consistent with that of URtrxSiz. The proposed two-channelKondo state for dilute U atoms in the ThRtrzSi3 system was shown to be unacceptable.
