X-Ray Diffraction Study of LaBSiO_5

Lanthanum borosilicate LaBSi05 was studied by means of single crystal X-ray diffractiontechnique. Lattice parameters measured between 293 K and 470 K indicate that the compoundundergoes a phase transition at 400 K. Crystal structure of LaBSiO5 was strccessftrlly determined assuming space group P31 21 at 443 K and Pat at 293 K, respectively. In both phases onelanthanum ton is coordinated by ten oxygens and sorne vacancies at oxygen and boron sites inB04 tetrahedra forming spiral chain parallel to c-axis are noticed. Main structural alterationthrough the transition was found in the distances between lanthanunu and some nearest neighboroxygens.
