A systematic approximation method for time evolutions of distribution functionsof deterministic dynamical systems is developed when the distribution functions arenot far from Gaussian. For simplicity and definitenc:ss, the procedure of the methodis shown by taking a simple dynamical system, that is, one-dimensional autonomousnonlinear oscillator. An essential point of the method is to replace an original initialvalue problem of the evolution of a distribution function by 2111 appropriate initialvalue problem of the evolution of a Gaussian distribution fttnction by using theKullback-Leibler's information. Basic properties of an initial value problem posed bythe method are also studied.
