By linearizing the basic equatioxas derived in tlae )creceding paper of tlte presentseries, nonequilibrium pltenomena in a crystalline lattice at a finite tempc:rature arestudied. Time evolution of a distribution function for the phenomexna can beclassified into three characteristic ones. TIICI first corresponds to an elastic wave in alattice. Its mecltanical and thermal propex'ties, that is, dispersion relation, propaga-tion velocities, anaplitude ratios, average energy, and euttropy are investigated. Sonteproperties of the wave xaear a melting poiuat are also discussed. Further, physical mean-ings of tlte two remainder are also discussed in detail, and a possible connection ofthese with conduction of heat is pointed c>ut.
