The coefficients of the linearized basic equations for thermo-elasticity andlattice vibration derived from the continuum approximation of the self-consistentEinstein model are estimated for FCC (Cu, Ag, Al, Pb, Ni) and BCC (Cr, Mo,W, Fe) crystals by assuming the Morse type pair-potentials. Two typical defor-mations, i.e., a uniaxial extension and a simple shear, are studied by using thelinearized equations to show explicitly the effect of strain on the amplitude of thelattice vibration in a cubic crystal.
