Spin Dynamics in the Amorphous Invar Alloy of Fe_<86>B_<14>

The sr>in waves in an amorrhous Invar allot' FessBNJ, have been studied b>'inelastic neutron scattering. Well defined magnon groups were detected around(0, 0, 0) up to<7=0.] 2 A -" for various temperatures below T< 0.9 T.. The spinwaves show the dispersions 1co.(T)=E(,(T)A-D(T)q" with D(T) varying withtemperature according to Z)(7')=D(0)(1 -aT"') with D(O)=118f6(meVA').The spin wave stiffness at 0 K, D(0), thus determined is almost twice as large asthe value 0.(0)=68.f2 (meVA") determined for the same sample by a magne-tization measurement. The spin wave linewidth I' varies with wave vector q asT=aq' and it shows only limited temperature dependence. All of these featuresare quite similar to those found in the crystalline Invar alloys as Fe5 5 Ni .5 andFe.Pt.
