The magneto-volume effect of the weak itinerant ferromagnet MnSi has been studiedby measuring both the thermal expansion over a wide range of temperature and theforced volume megnetostriction at different temperatures. The forced magnetostrictionat 4.2 K as well as the magnetic thermal expansion at 10 k0e, Aco..(H, T) can wellbe described by a formula Au..(#,7')=A1'CA[,V#5j(#,7')'] with KC1.5 x 10 " (mol/emu)' where A[W57(f,I)'] is the change of square of magnetizationby polarization of the d band. The spontaneous magrnetostriction at 0 K, Aa..(0,0) isrelated to the spontaneous magnetization 7V#(0,0) by Ao=(0,0) : (2/5)KC ,V(0,0)' withthe same KC. Furthermore magneto-v olume effect becomes positive above T.. All ofthese features agree satisfactorily with those predicted by Moriya and Usami based onspin fluctuation theory.
