Neutron Scattering Study of the Amorphous Fe_<70>Cr_<10>P_<13>C_7 Alloy

The spin wave excitation has been studied by both inelastic neutron scatteringand magnetization measurement for the amorphous Fe.gCrj.P.3C, alloy whichalmost does not exhibit the invar properties. Well defined magnon groups havebeen detected around (0, 0, 0) at up to q=O.1 6 A -' for various temperaturesbelow T<O.9T.. The spin wave stiffness constant D, has been determined to beD.=6O -42 meVA' by neutron scattering which is nearly in agreement with thevalue D..=54-32 meVA" derived by the magnetization measurement. The spinwave linewidth T varies with both wave vector q and temperature T as Fcxq'T'as predicted for the two-magnon interaction in the Heisenberg system.
