Magnetic Critical Behavior of a Quasi Two-Dimensional Antiferromagnet MnTiO_3

The ntagnetic neutron scattering front a single crystal of MnTi0. has beensttmdied. The static magnetic susceptibility has shown two dimensional characterabove 7'N. The sublattice magnetization, however, follows a power law with f3=0.32f0.0] as in a three dimensional antiferrontagnet. A quasi elastic neutronscattering has been observed in the vicinity of the N<Sel tenaperature with aniso-tropic three dinaensional correlations. When temperature increases, the scatteringprofile transforms gradually to a ridge-like form, indicating that the two dimen-sional correlations develope at about 16 K above T.. The values of critical ex-ponents in the three dimensional critical region coincide with the theoretical valuesof the three dinaensional Ising system.
