NMR Study of the Oblique Antiferromagnetism in the Random Mixture Fe_<1-x> Co_x Cl_2 2H_2O with Competing Anistoropies

Proton NIMR meastmrements are carried out in both of the antiferromagnetic (AF) and obliqueantiferromagnetic (OAF) phases in the random mixture Fej .CO.Cl2-2H2O with competinganisotropies. NMR spectra show that in the Fe-rich and Co-rich antiferromagnetic phases all ofFe and Co magnetic moments point parallel to their easy axes, the a-axis for FeClz=2HzO (Fe-type AF) and the 6-axis for COCl2-2H2O (Co-type AF), respectively. Some part of Fe spins tiltfrom 6-axis near the boundary concentration region between'x the Co-type AF and OAF phases.In the OAF phase, both a- and #-components of the rnoments order independently. Then Feand Co moments tilt from their easy axes with larger rnagnitudes of magnetic moments thanthat in the antiferromagnetic phase. These tilting moments coexist with the mornents which areparallel to either a- or 6-axis.
