Proton Spin-Lattice Relaxation in a Quasi-Two-Dimensional,Ferromagnetic Heisenberh System:(CH_3NH_3)_2CuCl_4

The spin dynamics of a quasi-two-dimensional, ferromagnetic [Ieisenberg system(CH.NH.).CuC1. (I.=8.91 K) are studied by measuring the proton spin-latticerelaxation rate in the temperature range between 4.2 and 300 K. In the ferromagneticstate, the relaxation rate is explained by the two-magnon process. The relaxation rate inthe paramagnetic state includes an effect of the rotatioru of the Cl.- or NU.- groupsand a temperature-dependent magnetic contribution peculiar to a ferromagneticsystem. A weak frequency dependence observed at room temperature as well as ananalysis of the absolute rate indicate an existence of a two-dimensional long-time tail inthe spin correlation function for the above system.
