The Charney-Hasegawa-Mima equation is a two-dimensional nonlinear equation describ-ing geostrophic Rossby flow and plasma drift flow. An analytic solution of the equation is givenwhich represents a stationary vortex of an elliptic boundary in a background shear flow. The solu-tion is obtained by assuming a suitable form for the arbitrary function in the stationary equation.
