The velocity distribution of a-particles produced by D-T reactions in a magneticmirror reactor is analyzed using the Fokker-Planck equation, which is integratednumerically after expanding the distribution function of a-particles in a seriesof eigenfunctions of the Legendre equation. Together with the distributionfunction, several quantities of interest are then evaluated. The influence of thevelocity distributions of plasma electrons and ions on the a-particles is investigatedby assuming two model functions, Maxwellian and non-Maxwellian, and it isshown that the form of the electron distribution at low speeds may have importanteffect on the x-particle distribution. The convergence property of the Legendreexpansion is also discussed.
