Fragmemtt-size and -mass distributions of long, thin glass rods (1500 mm long and2 mm diameter) are studied experimentally by dropj>ing horizontal glass rods. Atlower falling height (about 1 m drop), they can be descu'ibed by the Iognormal distributioxa. With increasing falling height, the distributions start to exhibit a power-lawform, At falling laeights greater than about 4.5 m, the j>ower-law form becomes stablewitlt an almost fixed expoxaent. The distibutions also show clear crossover to threedimensional fractture of glass rods around the rod di;tmeter.fragmentation, fragment-size, lognormal distributiccn, power-law distribution
