Cluster-Size Distribution in the Incremental Growth of DLA Clusters

Large-scale computer simulation results are presented for the cluster-size distribu-lions vV. in the incremental growth of on-lattice and off-lattice DLA clusters in thespatial dimensions cl = 2-5. The clusters are first grown to a size of v. particles and ad-ditional .5. particles are added. Then the number 7V. of clusters or "trees" of size s inthe incremental growth consisting of the last ,5. particles added is obtained to in-vestigate the .v-dependence of N,. It is found that ,V. can be approximately describedby the power-law form, ,V. -.5 " with the apparent values of the exponent ra 1.65,1.76, 1.70 for hypercubic lattice DLA and ra 1.68, 1.77, 1.71 for off-lattice DLA ind=2-4, respectively. A value of about 1.66 was obtained for r from five-dimensionaloff-lattice simulations. These exponents are related to the fractal dimensionality ofthe old growth/new growth interface.[01,A, cluster-size distribution, effective interface
