Resonating Hartree-Fock Theory of the One Dimensional Hubbard Model. : II. Breather Fluctuations in the Strong Correlation Regime

The electronic structure of the strongly correlated one dintensiom?a1 llubbard modelis calculated by the resonating Hartree-Fock (Res HF) metlaod. In the strong correla-[ion regime with the Coulomb repulsion U >= 6, SDW solitons lc>calize almost on thecentral two sites and only one kinad of neutu-al soliton pair has a much smaller energythan tlae other pairs. As quantum fluctuations in a periodic claain with 12 sites, we con-sider up to three diradical breathers consisting of the low energy neutral soliton pair.The Res HF ground state can explain 77.8% (U=6) and 80.1% (&=8) of the exactcorrelation energy, This is much better than tlae Gutzwiller method to use the SDW asthe reference state that explains about 50'%>of the correlation c:nergy. The breatherfluctuations explain the rapid decreases in the short distance of flue spin and staggeredspin correlation functions.
