Low's Theory for Electron Scattering and Photoelectron Production of Atoms, Molecules and Solids

• Low's scattering theory, that was successful in pion-nucleon-scattering problems, is formulated for electron scattering and photoelectron production of atoms, molecules and solids. the Low equation for electron scattering is derived and shown to be able to treat resonance and multiple scattering effects in a unified and clearcut manner. It also i s able to treat resonance and inelastic scatterings due to excitations of nuclear motions of the target as well as those due to electronic excitations. The non-linear Low equation is linearized and its approximate solution is obtained in the energy region with predominance of resonance scatterings or below inelastic channels. The Low equation for photoelectron production id derived and its solution is obtained. The Low photoelectron production amplitudes contain resonance and multiple scattering effects of the photoejected electron.
