Transverse diffusion coefficient in a toroidal reversed field pinch (RFP) isinvestigated for the MHD region. The configuration of the RFP is characterizedbv both a roloidal maunetic field B. and a 1onxitudi?tal field B.t, which reverses onthe outside of the plasma with respect to its value on the axis.Owing to the value of B. being comparable to ,Op and the short connectionlength of the magnetic lines of force, the diffusion coefficient in the toroidalRFP does not considerably exceed the so-called classical diffusion of binarycollision, D.=nT./o.Bg where T. is the electron temperature, n is the plasmadensity and o. is the transverse conductivity of the plasma.Near the characteristic magnetic surface in the RFP, where Bp=0, the fieldB. makes a dominant role for determining the diffttsion coefficient which resultsin the order of D.=nT./o,B9.
