Infrared reflection spectra of InS single crystals are observed in the wavenumberrange between 50 and 900 cm ' for each polarization in c-plane. The vibrationalfrequencies of longitudinal (co.) and transverse (a.) modes are determined bythe Kramers-Kronig analyses as follows: co.=3O9 and co.=217 cm ' for E//a,and cta. =11O, 236, 322, and co. =l04, 196, 296cm " for E//b polarizations.Almost the same frequencies are obtained from the fitting procedure by using theclassical oscillator model. It is confirmed that the obtained dispersion parametersare more explicit values than those of previous works for twin crystals. 'thedifference in crystal structures between InS and other layer semicotxductors, e.g.GaS, Gage, InSe, is explainable qualitatively in terrns of effective charges orionicities.
