The crystal field plays the important role in rare earth metals but experimentaldata and theoretical viewpoints do not well converge even in themselves, andthis problem is discussed for the metals with dhcp structure. A useful similarityrelation between the cubic site in dhcp and the lattice site in hcp is presented, which may be utilized to investigate the relative importance of the point chargecontribution against the conduction electron contribution.
