To obtain a high temperature plasma insulated by gas of atmospheric pressure,a newly developed gas flow system is proposed which induces an extremely la.rger.pressure difference in the radial direction (over several hundreds Torrs) comparedwith the conventional one (several Torrs). This concept of "gas tunnel" in strongvortex gas flow has been verified by the experiment. Several pccints of excellence onthe production of a high temperature plasma in the "gas tunnel" are emphasized.
