Contribution of higher order terms in the reductive perturbtttion theory has beeninvestigated for nonlinear propagation of strongly dispersive ton plasma wave. Thebasic set of fluid equation is reduced to a coupled set of the rronlinear Schr6dingerequation for the first order perturbed potential and a linear inhomogeneous equationfor the second order perturbed potential. A steady s1.ate solutiout of the coupled set ofequations has been solved analytically for the case of nonlinear amplitude modulationof the ton acoustic wave, which is nothing but the small wave number limit of thestrongly dispersive ion plasma wave.
