Diffusion constant of a kink in discrete nonlinear systems, such as the cf.' and theFrenkel-Kontorova models, is studied based on the transition state theory(TST) andthe newly proposed statistical mechanics of a constrained system. Our results are corn-pared with the simulation results by Combs and Yip.
